Cutting the Cost of a Vacation Rental Home

When most people think of a vacation rental home, they might think of a tiny little cabin. However, the vast majority of vacation rental homes on the market are quite large. Sure, you can find one to meet your size, but in almost every major city you will find a large one that is rentable.

To put it simply, the easiest way to make a vacation rental home the most affordable is to share the vacation with others. My brothers and sisters are all older, but we still enjoy the time we spend together. There have been numerous times that we have opted to go out of town for a weekend together. There is probably about 20 people counting all the kids that we have now days. But, still, these vacation rental homes are capable of fitting all of us under one roof. My kids along with my nieces and nephews particularly enjoy it when we do this. They get to spend time with one another late into the evenings which makes it nice for us adults when they are entertaining one another.

The last vacation rental home we had cost us about $300.00 per family for the weekend which is equivalent to what a decent hotel would cost. Instead, of paying it to have a small little room, we had bigger rooms, a more private location, and probably a lot more amenities at that price!

Colorado Springs is one of the most beautiful places ever!

In Colorado the mountains and wilderness get all the praise for the beauty. Generally people do not talk to much about the big town of Colorado Springs. However, people might be really surprised at how pretty it is. Obviously, you have the surrounding mountains which gives it beautiful scenery surrounding it. However, the town itself is equally amazing.

My wife and kids spent a weekend there last year. We rented a vacation rental home in the middle of town. The coolest part is that the town is actually split into two halves. You can go across these railroad tracks and the other side is an extremely old district. My wife loved it! There were lots of small shops, little places to eat, it had a very unique feeling to it.

The other side where our vacation rental home was had more of a modern feel to it. Larger buildings, newer homes, and plenty of the common restaurants you would find in almost every major city. In the evening time, we would find something to do. We spent a good time at the nearby springs themselves where my kids enjoyed the water. I did a little bit of fishing, and my wife got did all the shopping she wanted to do. It was a really good short vacation!

The Float Trip Extravaganza

Last weekend was one of the most fun weekends I have had in a long time. A few guys from where I work decided that they wanted to do a float trip. Sure, the last time I did a float trip I was just a kid. The river was a little high, I saw someone that had almost drowned, and generally it was just a pretty crazy time. This time though, we changed rivers and went down the Mountain Fork river in southeastern Oklahoma. It was an absolute blast!

We left on a Saturday morning, arrived on the water at about noon. We felt pretty brave, so we decided to go with the longest trip they had available which is 18 miles. Let me tell you, that is a long way! The first day we went and floated down the first 10 miles. They had a vacation rental home there that was absolutely gorgeous. Since there were five of us paying on the thing, it was not so badly priced. They had a hot tub just outside on a deck near the river, on the same deck was a nice place to put your poles in a rod holder while you are fishing. We spent a good portion of the time just sitting in the hot tub watching our poles late into the evening. We caught four or five pretty decent sized catfish.

The next morning we left the vacation rental home about 7:00 that morning. We had to hit the destination before noon and did not want to risk missing that time. We pretty much paddled straight through and arrived earlier than anticipated which was about 11:00. It was extremely beautiful! I do not think many people probably float that far down the river so we really did not see any other floaters the entire rest of the way. I would recommend a float trip like this to anyone!
