The Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico
While my wife and I decided to head out West we went directly through New Mexico. It was probably one of the most amazing places I have ever seen. The colors and things are so unnatural compared to what I am used to. The buildings are very different. Like in pictures, a lot of homes have the reddish appearance to them, with clay materials being used and such. The ground is clearly hard, dry, and desert appearing. However, in its own way it has a majestic and beautiful appearance to it unlike any other place in the United States.
My wife and I quickly made the decision to spend a couple of days in New Mexico. Our original plan was to drive straight through over to Las Vegas. But we quickly opted that it was a place that probably had some things to and made the phone call and found a vacation rental home that was immediately available for us.
Our vacation rental home just so happened to be nearby to the Carlsbad Caverns. Let me tell you, if you have never been inside of a cave, you should definitely do it at least once. The Carlsbad caverns were quite spectacular. It takes a while to get down to the inside of it, and once inside, you would think you were on the moon or something. The appearance is eerie but peaceful in its own way. As you walk through, you will find a hole where people are allowed to throw pennies. It is deep enough that it can take several seconds before you can ever hear it hit the bottom. It was a lot of fun, and highly recommended!
