Pack Lightly for Vacations!

I went to the airport the other day. Admittedly, I have not been anywhere in quite a while. However, I found out that virtually all of the airlines are charging you extra per bag. No longer are you simply allowed one bag plus a carry on. Instead, you are asked to pay about $15.00 per bag that you want checked in when I was flying with Continental Airlines. To top it off, you are not allowed to have a bag weighing over 60 pounds. For me, this was apparently not such a huge feat as my bag only weighed about 30 pounds. However, my wife, who feels the necessity to pack the house, had a bag that weighed 64 pounds. We simply moved some of the heavier items over to mine and we did not have to pay the extra fee that would have been placed on top of the $15.00. It is slightly a headache. It was kind of embarrassing to have to hold back the line while we moved things over in the middle of the airport on the floor. But sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

To be quite honest, when you are traveling, try to pack only what you need to. The vast majority of vacation rental homes have amenities that will give you the ability to wash clothes or provide certain things for you such as hair dryers or other things. Also, many people make the mistake of carrying their 32 ounce bottles of shampoo and conditioner in their luggage. The vast majority of the time, even if it is specialized shampoo, there are typically sample sized bottles for it. Ask your beautician about it and I am sure they can make a suggestion to you. Either way, most vacation rentals will carry a lot of the basic supplies you will need. The one I visited in California had a lot of the things I needed, including shampoo and conditioner.

Parties at Vacation Rental Homes

Are you about to go out of town with some friends but want to throw a huge party? You know you are not in college anymore, so the best solution would be somewhere other than a small hotel room. More often nowadays people who want to throw big parties while they are out of town will hold them vacation rental homes.

Sometimes people have a misconception about when vacation rentals are really nice. Most people consider them to be closer to cabins rather than simply places you can stay while being outside of town. People just assume that if the place is not exactly the highest tourist place that there is no vacation rental available. However, even places like Houston, where tourism is frequent but not as common as some other places, heavily metropolitan, and a great place to hold a party will almost always have some vacation rental homes available.

Vacation rental homes may have some limitations on what you can and can not do. However, the vast majority of them do not mind if you hold parties at them as long as they are relatively clean when you leave. The best types of parties to hold are those that can have some type of outdoor entertainment. Many of the homes will have outdoor grills where you can entertain people in and outside of the home. It makes it much more comfortable for the people attending than if they are just sitting on the edge of a bed inside of an over crowded hotel room. If you really want to look high class to your friends, take them out of town and show them a good time all the while having the amenities of being at your own home.
