Alaskan Outdoors Sporting Vacation

There are few places like the beautiful state of Alaska. I have only been a couple of times, but will never forget the sheer beauty of the state. I suppose it has something to do with its limited amount of people, the clean air, and the vast amount of precipitation it receives each year. I have never been in the winter, and probably never will have the desire to be there during that time of the year. However, in early August everything is extremely green, the weather is about 65 degrees during the day, and the wildlife are out and extremely active.

One of my favorite things to do is rent a vacation home on the outskirts of town. You have the amenities of being directly in town, but it will not be uncommon to see the wildlife roaming outside of the windows. This may sound like a scary thought, but really it was not at all. I enjoyed going out in the early morning and walking upstream. Not only did we see moose and some type of rams, we also caught a lot of salmon in the stream.

That evening, we would come back to the rented vacation home in Alaska and cook the salmon. How much fresher can you get than that? The salmon flavor was absolutely amazing. Especially after working so hard to catch the salmon, there was just something about it that made it taste that much better!

After my two experiences in Alaska, I would recommend it to anyone that has a passion for the outdoors. It does not matter where else you go in the United States, there is nothing quite like visiting the great state of Alaska to go fishing and hunting.
